Thank You

The 3rd annual benefit concert and silent auction, held on September 17th, 2011 at the Savoy Theatre, for the Cape Breton Cancer Patient Care Fund was a great success. With your support we were able to raise $17,233.70.

Although it is impossible to name every individual who helped, we want the public to be aware that it took dozens of volunteers and donors to make this concert a special event and a significant fundraiser.

We particularly want to thank the musicians, who gave freely of their time and talent-without you there would not have been a concert. We acknowledge the generosity of our business community who donated auction and door prize items, as well as food and drink. Kudos to the myriad of volunteers who worked on the scene and behind the scenes to make this concert an enjoyable affair for all.

Thank you to those who donated money to defray overhead costs and to our loyal sponsors. Finally, thank you to all who came out to support a good cause.

Proceeds from the 3rd annual benefit and silent auction will provide financial assistance to cancer patients in Cape Breton who require assistance paying for their prescriptions or other illness related expenses.

Sincerely,

Liz Healy

Cape Breton Cancer Centre Patient Care Fund

On Saturday , Sept. 17 , 2011, there will be a major fundraiser for the Cape Breton Cancer Centre Patient Care Fund to be held at the Savoy Theatre in Glace Bay. All proceeds raised will be exclusively dedicated to the fund. The Cape Breton Cancer Centre Patient Care Fund was established in January, 2005, with its sole purpose being to assist patients receiving treatment at the Centre with illness- related expenses. An example of this would be drugs, not fully covered by drug plans (as these can be very expensive if no coverage is available), medical equipment, lodging, and medical transportation. Every dollar raised and donated goes towards patient care, with Cancer Centre Social Worker Tom Mac Neil assessing each request. Operating this fund relies entirely on special fundraising events, such as this show.

Knowing the funds will go to such a worthy cause, the Savoy Theatre has graciously donated the venue and The Coast 89.7 FM is also on board as a proud sponsor for this event. This concert could not be possible without the gracious assistance of wonderful volunteers. All artists and emcees who are participating in this benefit have all selflessly donated their time.

The Coast 89.7 FM News Director Jennifer Ludlow and well known local artist Max MacDonald will emcee this event. The artists who will be performing at the event are as follows, J.P. Cormier, Ian Sherwood, RoSa, Colin Grant Band, Carleton Stone, Molly Thomason, Ian Foster, Jason MacDonald, Andrew Doyle Band, Bobby Curry Band, The Company, and Gillian Head. All Maritime talent giving back to their community.

Please come out, enjoy the show and support this worthy cause. At this time we are also requesting a donation in the form of a door prize/silent auction item or perhaps a monetary donation. Be assured that your contribution is going to a very worthwhile cause and whatever you are able to give will be greatly appreciated.
